My Thoughts on "Freakanomics"

The book "Freakanomics", authors Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner examine the unseen truths about many controversial topics. I think the authors wrote this book to open reader's minds and to get readers to question and be aware of certain situations and topics and to give his theory on how these things work.

The chapter that left a huge impression on me is the one about choosing names wisely. I don't think a name determines a child's future but it does have a huge impact on a child's life and on how society views the child growing up and how that child is treated. The chapter that inspired the most discussion is the chapter about crime rate and how crime went down because the kids simply weren't born. I believe they had a great, well thought out theory that could possibly be true.

None of the material vexed me because I chose not to take people's particular opinions personal I feel as if I can learn from everybody so I respect individual’s opinions and what they have to say. I would consider reading topics of this nature because I would love to further my knowledge and continue to open up my mind and not be ignorant to topics of these natures. I would recommend this book to others because it is very interesting and thought provoking and is a good read for people who are new to reading or who don't read as often. Overall this was a great, interesting and thought provoking book and I enjoyed it.
