Ready for my internship

The technical skills I have that can add value to this company is that I can image computers and that I can troubleshoot really well. The skills I believe that I will get to showcase first are my professionalism, kindness and my work ethic. These traits will lead to my manager giving me assignments which I think will be troubleshooting many computers and setting up printers and connecting them to the network. I work well under a manger that communicates really well and that has structure to his company and assignments. I believe a manager that hears me out and is not hard to talk to has always proven to be beneficial throughout my professional career. I hope to learn a lot more about networks and IP addresses. I also hope to improve on my public speaking and my connecting and networking with my colleagues. I have one huge anxiety about internship which is if I make many mistakes that I will lose my internship. I plan to stand out by being the new intern that adds so much value to the company that everybody assumes I'm a full time employee. I plan to demonstrate I'm dependable positive and eager by showing up at work early, maintaining a positive attitude and being proactive in finding work. I plan to continue on the path to get my associates degree in computer science. Hopefully I will have a job but if not I will do my best to find one.

Makin the most out of my internship

  1.  Avoid negativity complaining and disrespect-  Before I even start you have to make sure I don’t disrespect anyone or complain about anything because if I do, you will go no further.
  2. Tackle all tasks with enthusiasm and a positive attitude-This goes hand in hand with no complaining because if I complain I will develop a  bad reputation and bring the mood down of the corporation which will lower your chances of me being hired after my internship.
  3. Set personal goals- Set personal goals so I know exactly where I am going with my career and establish what specific field or traits I want to learn and develop during my internship.
  4. Take initiative- Take initiative and show how appreciative I am to be there and how eager I am to receive more work and how bad I really want to contribute to the company.
  5. Don't be afraid to ask questions- Don't be afraid to ask questions because if I don't ask questions I'll never learn as much as I possibly can. Nobody knows everything and this will help me maximize my experience at my internship.
  6. Networking- Networking is a key trait I want to utilize at my internship because it opens up many doors and I'll never know where I can be because I chose to network efficiently. Sometimes its not what you know its who you know the rest you can learn on the job.
  7. Gain exposure- Gain exposure to get a better understanding of the company and by knowing how everything operates will be very beneficial. Even if I learn a field that I have no interest in. By knowing many fields it will make me more valuable to the company and increase my chances of getting hired.
  8. Leave with tangible accomplishments- Make sure I make many accomplishments at my internship and accomplishments that make a difference and I need to write them down so I know exactly I did so I can explain to a future employer.
  9. Have regular meetings with my supervisor- I need to have a regular meeting with my supervisor to receive feedback and know where I'm not doing so well and I can work on them and truly grow
  10. Find a mentor- Find a mentor so I can learn a lot about the company and it is also a good chance to network with people I haven't already met because my mentor will open up a lot of doors
  11. Enjoy yourself- I have to have fun at my internship and enjoy it. I don't want to be uptight, I want to have fun while doing all my work
  12. Learn from workshops and colleagues- Learning from colleagues and attending trainings and workshops to truly get the most out of my internship

Work Experience

The worst job I've ever had was when I worked at AT&T Park and had to deal with rude customers and I had to keep my composure and maintain a professional demeanor. My primary responsibility was to engage with customers and provide excellent customer service. I sold merchandise, hot dogs and beer. The part of the job I really did not enjoy was dealing with intoxicated customers and having to endure there extreme comments. I developed great interpersonal skills even though a lot of the customers I interacted with often vexed me. I believe the ability to speak about a variety of topics and to think quick on my feet will prove to be quite useful in my internship. My favorite job was working with little children and helping them develop and progress through out the early stages of life. I think the biggest trait I gained from this job was developing patience and understanding that everything in life is not going to go my way and that I need to be patience in every situation. This trait will help me push forward in difficult situations while eliminating any possibilities of disparaging myself. All these traits are much needed and will help further develop me into the successful man I hope to become one day.
